The Shadylawn ADU was designed to give the homeowner’s parents a comfortable, long-term home connected to family life. Attached by a shared screen porch, this ADU creates a sense of independence while maintaining a close connection to the main house. The new structure includes two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a spacious open-plan kitchen/living/dining area that opens directly to the backyard—ideal for family gatherings and playtime with the grandkids.

A vaulted living space with a dual-sided fireplace serves as the heart of the home, providing warmth and a visual connection between the interior and the shared screen porch. The design prioritizes aging in place while supporting daily connection and quality time with family across generations.
