RAC Custom Home

The RAC custom home is one of six homes on Elon University’s Loy Farm that have been designed to showcase a variety of unique sustainability strategies, including; reduced site impact, lower energy consumption, onsite energy production, responsible water consumption, water filtration, and low carbon footprint.

Until our energy grid is supplied with clean energy, PV panels are one of the most effective ways of reducing a building’s operational carbon. The RAC (LowCarb) house’s large PV array is tied to an inverter in the large community porch. Here, students can monitor their energy usage and compare how it aligns with the sun’s radiance.

This custom design was brought to fruition by Haven Design|Build’s construction team.
