Pickett Addition

The Pickett Addition expanded a small rental property to become the primary residence for its owner and more actively connect the structure to its sloping backyard. The design removed the existing water-damaged bathroom and connected a new bedroom suite through the opening. The addition was rotated away from the original building’s orientation to open up the backyard, and admits ample daylight through wide, full-height windows looking down the sloping green. The existing spaces facing the backyard were renovated with new materials, fixtures, and skylights to further bring daylight into a wood site.
