Heirloom Custom Home
The Heirloom custom home is one of six homes on Elon University’s Loy Farm that have been designed to showcase a variety of unique sustainability strategies, including; reduced site impact, lower energy consumption, onsite energy production, responsible water consumption, water filtration, and low carbon footprint.
The H2Oasis House demonstrates solar hydronic heating, the process by which hot water is directly heated by the sun and used in the home. The large panels on the roof are tied into not only the building’s water heater, but also circulate through pipes beneath the concrete slab. Additionally, water from the roof is captured in a sand-filter, which cleans it and can even render it potable.
This custom design was brought to fruition by Haven Design|Build’s construction team.
